Alzheimer’s Disease Services, Staffing, and Outcomes in Adult Day Health Centers

Accelerating rates of Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementia (ADRD) has led to a greater reliance on adult day health centers (ADHCs) and their skilled workforce. Although there is a lot of research on this topic, little is known about staffing in ADHCs that provide ADRD services compared to ADHCs that do not. As populations with ADRD increase, changes in staffing demands could have a significant impact on long-term workforce planning and development.

This article examines differences in staffing between ADHCs that offer ADRD services versus those that do not, and whether staffing levels are associated with the percentage of ADHC participants with ADRD and their outcomes.
