Estimating Supply of Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Providers

Many children with mental health issues in the United States do not receive necessary treatment due to a shortage of child psychologists. Existing research on the supply of child psychologists may not take into proper account the number of psychologists without a child and adolescent specialty credential that is needed to treat patients in this age group.

This brief describes a study that used data analysis and an online survey to help estimate the supply of psychologists who provide services to children and adolescents.
