Burnout

Burnout is defined by physical, mental, and emotional exhaustion and it is caused by chronic workplace stress that has not been well managed. Health care workers who are experiencing burnout are more prone to absenteeism, depression, and committing medical errors, among other negative outcomes. The COVID-19 pandemic heightened issues of burnout in the health workforce.
